Tobias Kormind, managing director of 77 Diamonds, notes that blue diamonds, being rarer than pink ones, often command higher prices per carat. Given its size, provenance, and association with JAR, the Golconda Blue is poised to make history as the first $100 million diamond ever sold at auction.The Fancy Color Research Foundation also shares this optimism, citing the stone’s extraordinary rarity, historical significance, and exquisite fancy-vivid-blue grade as factors that could push its final selling price well beyond the initial high estimate of $50 million.
