Recently, Russian mining company Alrosa discovered a remarkable 468.30-carat diamond at a mine in the Yakutia region. It is said to be the largest high-quality gem-grade rough diamond ever found in the country. This striking diamond exhibits a fancy amber hue, and the over-100-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond will become the largest manufactured diamond in Russian history. The discovery surpasses the record set by the 401-carat rough diamond named “New Sun,” which was recovered by Alrosa in 2013.
Pavel Marinychev, CEO of Alrosa, expressed excitement about this discovery, marking a significant milestone for the company and emphasizing the importance of 2025 for Russia’s diamond industry.
