Stepping into Cyberport, the first impression is not a cold, austere sense of technology, but a warm and focused atmosphere. On this day, we were honored to welcome over 30 DBA alumni from PolyU and CityU, all passionate about innovative technology and art, who had gathered for the ” AI Horizons at Cyberport ” event held at Cyberport.
As the guests stepped into the venue, their attention was immediately drawn to a unique exhibition curated by Vice Chairman, PolyU DBA Alumni Association & porcelain artist, Dr. Corinna Siu: Porcelain Art Fusion Exhibition: A Dialogue Between Hand-Painted and AI Generated Art. Delicately hand-painted porcelain pieces were displayed alongside AI-generated artworks. On one side lay the warmth of the artist’s brushwork and the sedimentation of time; on the other, the infinite variations produced by algorithms. The two stood in stark yet complementary contrast. Bathed in natural light streaming through Cyberport’s floor-to-ceiling windows and framed by the south Hong Kong Island seascape, guests slowly wandered through the space, quietly contemplating the delicate balance between “human” and “technology,” reflecting on the future of traditional art in the digital age.
After that, the exchange moved into the JDC Lab exhibition hall, and the mood shifted from contemplative to spirited. Patrick Yuen, founder of JDC Lab, and Dr. Corinna Siu led an in-depth artistic sharing session. Patrick began with the core philosophy of the JDC Lab jewellery platform, how it strives to connect craftsmanship, design, and the market, and then expanded further, drawing on his own creative experiences to explore how technology can breathe new life into traditional art. Technology, he suggested, is not merely a tool, but a shared vocabulary for co-creation. When the floor opened for discussion, questions came thick and fast. These sincere inquiries not only demonstrated the alumni’s strong interest in “Art Tech” but also confirmed that the integration of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology is quietly emerging as a major trend in future cultural development.
For JDC Lab, promoting the transmission of art and professional knowledge has never been about hosting a few simple sharing events. It is a long-term commitment. We regularly organize seminars, workshops, and various exchange activities, aspiring to serve as a platform for dialogue between craftsmanship and technology. Looking ahead, the JDC Lab exhibition hall at Cyberport will continue to open its doors, welcoming more like-minded friends to explore, at the intersection of aesthetics and AI algorithms.
